Our Story

Built on Precision. Growing Through Trust.

Metal Essence, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Al in his garage with nothing more than a Hardinge manual lathe and a vision. Determined to bring manufacturing to Florida, Al set out to prove that the Sunshine State could be more than just a tourist destination — it could be a competitive, productive hub for high-quality American machining.

By 2001, Metal Essence had grown to 100 employees, operating out of a 32,000 square-foot facility with over 30 CNC machines and 24/7 production. The company shipped to over 10 countries, with one part number alone exceeding 6 million pieces per year.

In 2006, Al and his wife Yvonne began transitioning from high-production work to tight-tolerance, difficult-to-machine, medium-volume production. They sold the business's assets but retained the Metal Essence name. That same year, they also founded Machining Solutions, LLC, a sister company providing consulting services to other manufacturers.

From 2006 to 2010, Metal Essence operated out of a leased facility with a Mazak QuickTurn 20 and a Mazak FH4800. In 2010, the company purchased its current building in Longwood, FL, bringing over those two machines along with a Mazak Multiplex 6100Y, and adding its first Mazak HCN 5000. Since then, the company has steadily grown — adding machines nearly every year since 2019.

Today, Al leads CNC programming and engineering. Yvonne oversees production, administration, and shipping. Their son Justin leads business development, machine setup, and operations for both Metal Essence and Machining Solutions. The company remains a true family business — where every part is personal.
